107.9 The Link Easter Eggstravaganza

Hi There

Coz there are quite a few pics I am going to try and keep the update short. (Ok now that I am publishing I realize just how long winded I really am (hehehe) no complaints now TD !!!)

Firstly Happy Easter Everyone, hope the bunny treated you well ;-)

Yesterday morning was the annual 107.9 The Link Easter Eggstravaganza, this is the third year I think they have run it and we have been every year. Last year was so hot that all the chocolate eggs on the field melted but yesterday the weather was at the other end of the spectrum which is crazy but anyway. We left home at around 10ish and it was freezing about 30 degrees (0 in SA degrees) with a wind factor thrown into the mix making it below zero and just cold, cold, cold !!! Can you believe a few weeks ago the kids were all in bathing suits, absolute madness if you ask me !!! Anyway we bundled up and drove to the YMCA, the park where the eggstravaganza is held is a walk away from our house but we make a big thing out of it and drive to the gym (YMCA) and catch a bus from there to the park, that way it's more fun for Jade and we don't have to battle with parking.

Because the weather was so cold many people I think decided not to go but it was still pretty full, but Jade didn't have to stand in long lines to ride the rides. We bought her a $3 all day ride ticket so she literally rode a ride, exited and went back in to ride again, there were hardly any lines when we arrived. I have many pics but didn't want to bore you all too much so only have added a few :-) Dave rode some of the rides with her, the ones that go around are not his favorite, that is for sure.

Then for those that don't know about the Easter hunt itself well the radio station (107.9 The Link) is sponsored so hugely that they have thousands and thousands of pieces of candy that they throw on the field for the kids to pick up. What you see in the pics is 3 fields full of candy but what you don't see is that they do these hunts three or four times a day so you can imagine how much candy is actually out there :-) too much if you ask me. This year was Jades last year on the 0 - 4 field so I think next year she will have a lot more competition but then sometimes when we are at these events I really wonder who is more competitive the kids or the parents (hehehe). This year with there being fewer people, she certainly got enough candy to last her till next year !!!

After the hunt we left because it was just too cold to hang around. Oh by the way for those of you that read my post regarding Paul Wylie, I got a bit of a thrill speaking to Potter from the Candy and Potter Show while waiting for the hunt to begin, they are quite the celebrities in Charlotte so two celebrities in one week, wow, maybe third time lucky ... Vegas here I come !!!

Anyway here are the pics. Oh and by the way, TD you requested some pics of the 'old man' so here you go, especially for you !!!
