One afternoon while waiting for Jade to come home and while Amber was sleeping ... I had so much to do around here but was just worn out and wanted some down time so I found this online photo thingi and was messing around, this is what I came up with, hope you enjoy them ...

September 6th - Daves Birthday

Not much to write about today since most the excitement happened yesterday. We got up early to give Dave his gifts, nothing too exciting on that front either, more just stuff he needed.

We pretty much hung out at home and relaxed most of the morning, here are some pics taken of the girls before the birthday pics.





Again the head is to the wrong side ... again a tired time, it's amazing no matter how strong she gets she still goes that way when she is tired.



I love these birthday pics, I think they are some good ones of the three of them :-)







Later the afternoon we went to the pool for a Labor Day pool party, we told Jade the party was for daddy's birthday so she said we had to get cake so I bought some cupcakes and some other party goodies and shared it with the neighbors at the pool and she was happy. It was a nice afternoon, the pool was crowded which surprised me coz it had been chilly the past few days and the pool was really cold but everyone was in and having a good time. There was a DJ playing lively music and there were tons of pool games and prizes, Jade even won a skipping prize which she was so excited about.

Anyway we had a fun and relaxing day, Dave actually slept most of the day, snoozed, said it has something to do with getting old but oh well, it's his birthday so I gave him that luxury, not sure if I would ever be paid back the favor but anyway.

Monday was Labor Day and we went off to Concorde Mills to change out some sizes in shoes I had bought him, had lunch there and then came home and just did stuff around the house getting ready to be back at school and work again.

It was a fun weekend though, I hope Dave had a good time. Thanks to all that contacted him to wish him, I am sure it meant a lot to him.

This coming weekend we are going to the Cabarras County Fair which we try and do every year as well, we love it, Jade is very excited so we hope the weather holds, we have already bought tickets, gosh hope Amber manages the day too, should be interesting, we'll see. I am sure I will take pics there and you will get to see them :-) until then ... have a good week further.

September 5th - Matthews Alive

Saturday morning we got up and ready early to go to the Labor Day Parade and the Matthews Alive Festival which we go to every year and have grown to love. I wasn't sure how Amber would do with the Parade as it gets really really noisy and some of the emergency vehicle set off the sirens when they are a few feet away from you ... but she did well except for when one big truck came by and blew his horn, it sounded like one of those huge trucks on the road or even a train going by blowing his horn, it was very very loud and poor old Amber almost jumped out of her skin, that made her cry for a while but she eventually calmed down thankfully.

She sat on my lap almost the entire time and was totally happy checking everything out :-)



We met Tina, Lewis and the kids there, they watched the parade with us then we went our separate ways. Here is Jade and her very best friend Louis, they play so very well together, too cute.



This was pretty neat, this transformer guy came by and the kids stood by him for pics.



Then I went and had Jades face painted, this lady did such a nice job that I am seriously considering having a face painting party for Jades birthday, she does theme parties so we could do princes and princesses and the kids would all have their faces painted accordingly, I think that would be neat but we will see, Jade seems keen right now but we will see closer to the time.





Can you tell this one was requested by Dave ... yeah yeah ... this one is for you Gavin !!!



We took a few other parade pics but we figured you are all very tired of seeing the same old same old pics so we skipped them.

That evening Tina came over to babysit the girls so I could take Dave out for dinner for his birthday, we had a nice dinner and went to see the movie Hangover which was such a laugh, what a nice evening, we really need to do that more often. Thanks Tina, your turn next.

Waking Up From Her Afternoon Nap ...

Ok well a lot happened last week as far as Amber goes, on Monday we had our 4 month visit to the doctor and a whole bunch of shots ... poor baby but she is like her sister such a trooper. Shame her one leg, the top part, as if it is not big enough really swelled up big time, apparently they injected into the muscle and that is what can happen, it was like that for days, I had to massage it down, but it clearly wasn't hurting her coz when I massaged it she was either laughing or smiling to thank God that wasn't too bad.

Anyway my little baby is not 16 odd pounds, yep she is the same roly poly baby her sister was, thankfully Jade now has a good little figure on her so hopefully Amber will be the same one day.

The doctor seemed happy that she was meeting all her milestones and that her neck was looking a lot better, thank God.

But then she told me to change up a stack of stuff which this routine mom well let's just say I started to sweat a bit ... Jade was in her crib and sleeping through the night at 8 weeks and Amber at 16 weeks is still in the bassinet in our room, only coz she wakes up the early hours of the morning, not for food but just fussing a little so Dave leans over and brings her into our bed and then she goes right off to sleep, not something either of us want to get into a habit of but it has just worked for us right now. So the doctor said ... firstly get her napping in her crib during the day which I started Monday and she has done fine with. She also said Amber is sleeping too little during the day and well I thought she was doing fine and now that I have let her nap more, I think we are in trouble coz she is more awake at night ... so that was not a good thing, we need to work through that a bit.

Then she asked me how many bottles Amber had in a day and when was the last feed at night, I told her 5 bottles and 11pm and she told me to drop that last feed, stretch her more at 6 and 7pm and try and feed her at 8 and then let her sleep through, oh man was I nervous on this note coz she had a good 5 ounces at 11 and could she do without it. Well the first night she slept through the night and we thought it was Christmas but that was short lived ... so now her last feed is around 8pm if we can keep her awake till then.

We have also introduced some solids which is a little early but Jade started early too and the doctor said it is fine, she is doing better and better every day, she now eats banana, applesauce and tonight for the first time she had sweet potato, which was her first warm food considering she has room temperature water with her formula and she loved it ... Jade was always a good eater and it seems Amber is well on her way to being just like her sister.

Now let's hope we get this night thing sorted out, last night was her first night in the crib, now I know I have this dated the 4th but since I am only typing it today which is the 8th ... she is waking up for her pacifier which is something new to us coz Jade never took the pacifier or sucked her thumbs, gosh now I realise even more how much an easy baby she was. Don't get me wrong, Amber is pretty easy in every way but we just haven't gotten this night thing right yet ... wish us luck.

September 1st ...

As mentioned, I am going to update little by little so you will need to scroll down to see what you saw last ...

Here we have Amber sitting in her little bumbo chair exercising her neck, as you can see her neck is a lot stronger and well I have another physio appointment tomorrow morning and I am hoping that she won't want to see us back for at least another two weeks, hold thumbs.



Some sisterly love ... you know Jade can't let me take more pics of her sister than I do of her (hehehe).

And my smiley girl ... she is such a smiler, can't help lighting up your day even when it's been a bad one. Oh dear the neck is a little tilted here, must have been the end of her exercise work out when she starts to get tired and takes the path of least resistance.

Feels Like Forever Ago That I Blogged But ... NOT !!!

I have a few updates or mostly pics but I had planned on doing it this past weekend but just ran out of time and then again today but again ran out of time so I am going to try and do this in between everything else that I am doing and hopefully some time this week I will get it done. If I get done early tonight with the kids and all, I might fit in some updating then ... here's hoping.

Anyway this is a pic of Dave and Amber napping ... feeding and burping her makes him fall asleep faster than him watching a formula one grand prix (hehehe). So many evenings I find him asleep after feeding her, now if he was still doing the 11pm feed I could understand but this feed starts between 7h30 and 8 in the evening.

Having just celebrated a birthday his answer to his sleeping so much or so early, was that is what happens when you get old (hehehe) guess it is not long till I will find out for myself :-)
